Water of Natural Tropical rivers and streams significantly differs from our tap water. A lot of different elements are present in these waters, many of which are of significant relevance to plant growth.
It becomes evident that the Aquarist must re-create 'similar to nature' conditions, for lush vegetation to be grown in the aquarium.

Research has shown that rather than Macro-Nutrients (i.e.: nitrates, phosphates, calcium, sodium, magnesium etc.), Micro-Nutrients are normally in short supply. Unfortunately Micro-Nutrients are very unstable in their inorganic form and, when added to aquariums using basic formulations, they normally precipitate and become unusable. It is also important to know that many aquatic plants do not have the ability to 'store' the above mentioned elements for later use. It is therefore important to take care not only regarding the quality and the quantity of these added nutrients, but also to their 'constant presence' or bio-availability.
Last but not the least, thanks to Liebig's research, we today know that these elements must ALL be available to the plants seeing that "growth is controlled not only by the total of resources available, but by the scarcest resource".

ELOS solves all the plants' nutrient needs by providing a balanced FERTILISING SYSTEM consisting of four different additives designed to re-create 'close to nature' conditions inside a fresh water aquarium. A product range that is - regarding quality, formula, use, and efficacy - unique, and able to re-create in a closed system like an aquarium, the natural balance usually found in tropical rivers and lakes.
It is a fertiliser range scientifically formulated using only highly purified chemicals of pharmaceutical grade - not just a fast-acting formula, but a long-term, slow release fertiliser range to promote and maintain healthy plant growth.

ELOS K40 is a Potassium based (K) additive that also contains specific growth boosters essential to the harmonious growth of aquatic plants. ELOS K40 increases all of the plant’s growth activities through a synergetic action on the root system, and on leaf absorption activity, setting good uniformity in leaf and stem growth. It is a slow-release fertiliser active in a wide pH range (from pH 4 to pH 9), ideal for Aquariums that reproduce the biotopes of the Amazon, Central America, African and South East Asian waters etc. It is, normally used in combination with ELOS Fase 1 and ELOS Fase 2 to improve the quality of the leaves, supporting the photosynthesis process in densely planted tanks and when the concentration of CO2 is increased due to the use of modern CO2 Systems.

Note: ELOS K40 is a complex formula. To preserve its quality and to reduce contamination it is packed using glass bottles with glass dispenser. This helps to preserve the formula quality, minimising contact with the air, thus keeping constant its quality, purity and efficacy from the first until the last application.

Please note that Elos Fertilisers no longer come with a dosing pump, only a precision dosing syringe.

When the aquarium is densely planted, where CO2 is implemented as well as when strong Light is used, we suggest the combined use of ELOS Fase 1, ELOS Fase 2 and ELOS Extra1.
